Sisters share something of their ministry:

some of the children she shares her life with in a poor
shanty town on the outskirts of Lima, Peru, South America
|
"Our
challenge as Presentation Sisters in Lima is to be a presence
amongst the poor, living as they live, experiencing life
from their perspective. Flowing from this, we focus our
energies on changing the mentalities and structures which
keep the women so oppressed. Training in work skills, education,
manual crafts, self esteem, dance, aerobics, alternative
medicines, etc, help them to discover their own worth and
dignity as women and this does change the quality of their
lives and the lives of their children." |
"My
name is Carmel Hodgkinson and I am a Presentation Sister
in Murgon, Queensland. I have been teaching "little
ones" for over forty years. At present, I am teaching
at St Joseph's Primary School, Murgon. As Nano Nagle heard
"the call" to help the children of Ireland, I
also heard a "call" - "Suffer the little
children to come unto Me". This ministry has been
a labour of love for me."
